Ethiopia is poised to become a global manufacturing giant and is currently the emerging manufacturing hub for Africa.

Fastest growing economy on the continent

As of 2019 Ethiopia had regained the distinction as the "fastest growing economy on the African continent". Last year Ghana had held the number one spot. But for most of the past decade Ethiopia has been in the number one slot and they regained that position this year. Ethiopia's economy is set to expand by at least 8.5 percent again this year. Ethiopia's prime minister, Dr. Abiy Ahmed has made it clear that he is committed to growing the Ethiopian economy at a record pace setting a bold goal to be the leading manufacturing hub in Africa by 2025. The prime minister has also made a strong commitment to opening more foreign investment opportunities in many key sectors.
